Intelligent Traffic Management System: Violating road safety laws is going to cost you heavily. The South Indian state of Karnataka has decided to launch the Intelligent Traffic Management System.

Under this system, the Bangalore-Mysore road network will be equipped with cameras. The cameras installed here will identify the violators so that immediate action can be taken against them. The government is trying to issue challans through Fastag. For this, efforts are also being made to connect the toll gates to the Intelligent Traffic Management System.

Cameras and speed guns to be installed on Bengaluru-Mysore Expressway

Karnataka Police has also distributed 155 laser speed guns along with 800 alcometers across the state to check drunk driving. Alok Kumar, ADGP, Traffic and Road Safety, said that from July 1, the entire Bengaluru-Mysuru Expressway will be equipped with Intelligent Traffic Management System. This system was launched in Bengaluru in December 2022. Under ITMS technology, 250 automatic number plate recognition cameras and 80 red light detection cameras have been installed at 50 major junctions. From July 1, people breaking traffic rules in Mysore will start getting challans.

SMS alerts will be sent in real time if you break traffic rules

Alok Kumar told Deccan Herald that a traffic management centre has been set up in Mysore. Soon, violators will start receiving SMS alerts in real time. Many areas will be monitored with the help of cameras. He said that ITMS will be installed on all highways connecting Bengaluru. The State Road Transport Authority has approved this proposal. For this, tenders will be issued by the government in July.

Discussion on integrating challan system with fastag

According to the report, in the meeting, the traffic and road safety wing of the state police discussed integrating the challan system at toll gates with Fastag. This will allow the fine to be deducted directly from the Fastag wallet. The ADGP has planned to write a letter to the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways for its approval.
