Fake Universities in India 2025: The University Grants Commission (UGC) has once again released a list of 21 fake universities operating in India. These institutions operating in various states and union territories are awarding degrees without permission. Students going for admission are advised to check the validity of the university by visiting the UGC website before taking admission.
Fake universities are institutions that claim to offer legitimate degrees without being accredited. These institutions deceive students and award them certificates that have no educational or professional value. Such institutions often operate under misleading names, which creates confusion among students.
These 4 institutions of UP are fake
The fake universities issued by the UGC include the Indian Council of Education Lucknow, Mahamaya Technical University, Gautam Buddha Nagar, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose University (Open) Aligarh and the Gandhi Hindi Vidyapeeth Prayagraj, which is running in Uttar Pradesh.

8 out of 21 fake institutions in Delhi
Out of the 21 fake educational institutions issued by the UGC, 8 are running in Delhi. Their names are All India Institute of Public and Physical Health Sciences State Government University, Commercial University Limited Daryaganj, ADR Centric Juridical University, Indian Institute of Sciences and Engineering, Vishwakarma Open University for Self-Employment and Spiritual University.
