A letter has been received from UIDAI, in which it has been said that Aadhaar should not be used as proof of DoB. If it is being used then it needs to be removed from the list of acceptable documents. After this letter, a circular has been issued by EPFO on January 16, 2024, in which information in this regard has been given.

According to the EPFO circular issued on August 2023, you can use these documents to change the date of birth-

>>Birth certificate issued by the Registrar of Births and Debts
>> Marksheets issued by government boards and universities
>> Apart from this, you can use School Leaving Certificate (SLC), Transfer Certificate (TC) and SSC certificate, which include name and date of birth.
>>passport
>>pan card
>> Certificate based on service record of Central/State Government organizations
>> Residence certificate issued by the government.

Why can’t Aadhaar be used?

Aadhaar is recognized as Proof of Identity and Proof of Address. At the same time, you cannot use it as a Date of Birth (DoB) certificate. Aadhaar is a 12-digit personal identification number issued by the Unique Identification Authority of India on behalf of the Government of India. This number serves as proof of identity and address, anywhere in India.
