EPFO issues a 12 digit UAN number to every PF account holder like Aadhaar number. Universal Account Number is the account in which Employees’ Provident Fund (EPF) is deposited.
UAN number is very useful. With the help of this PF account holder can check the balance of PF account. PF account holder has to activate his UAN number. Only after that he can use it to avail the services provided by EPFO.
No matter how many jobs an employee changes, his PF UAN number remains the same. On changing jobs, the employee has to share the UAN with the new company. That’s why it is a very important number and every employee should know about it. But, still many employees do not know their UAN number. If you have not been able to know your UAN number yet, then it does not matter. You can find it online very easily in few minutes. EPFO has now tweeted and explained its process.
Learn UAN online like this
- Visit the official website of EPFO www.epfindia.gov.in
- On the home page, go to Services, For Employees section, then go to its Services section and click on Member UAN/Online Service (OCS/OTCP).
- New page will open. Go to the Important Links given on the right side of it and click on Know your UAN.
- After doing this, a new page will open in front of you, enter your registered mobile number here and click on captcha.
- Do OTP validation by entering OTP on mobile.
- Now a new page will open. Enter the name and then the date of birth in it. Then enter the member ID, Aadhar or PAN number and also enter the captcha. Then click on Show My UAN.
- Your UAN number will be sent to your registered mobile number.
This is the way to activate UAN online
- Go to the EPFO website and click on the For Employee option in the Services menu.
- After this, click on the Member UAN / Online Service option appearing on the Services page.
- A login page will open, click on the option of Activate Universal Account Number (UAN) shown below.
- Here after filling your UAN number, date of birth, mobile number and captcha text, click on Get Authorization Pin.
- An OTP will come on the registered mobile number. After filling it, verify the details. After doing this click on Agree. After this UAN has to be activated.
- It takes at least six hours to activate the UAN number.
