EPFO has issued an important and very necessary information for all the employees under its control. On visiting the EPFO website, a big pop-up box opens. In this pop-up box, EPFO has issued a warning for the employees.
EPFO i.e. Employees Provident Fund Organization is a government organization, which works under the Ministry of Labor of the Government of India. EPFO provides social security as well as financial security to the employees working in the organized sector of the country. EPFO has issued an important and very important information for all the employees under it. EPFO has asked its members to keep the UAN number and password of their EPF account safe or else they may be subjected to cyber fraud.
As soon as you visit EPFO website, you get a warning
On visiting the EPFO website, a big pop-up box opens. In this pop-up box, EPFO has issued a warning for employees. This warning says, “Be cautious about theft/loss of your credentials (UAN and password), which may lead to cyber fraud.”

Cyber fraud can happen through UAN number and password
This simply means that now you can be defrauded using your UAN number and password. Therefore, now you have to take special care of your UAN number along with the password of your EPF account. Keep in mind that you should only use your personal device to access your EPF account.
EPFO told ways to avoid cyber fraud
The Employees Provident Fund Organisation has also shared some very important measures with employees to avoid cyber fraud. EPFO has advised employees to install licensed anti-virus/anti-malware on their computers, laptops and smartphones. Always keep the device updated and patched. EPFO advises to create complex passwords for your EPF account and do not share passwords or OTPs with anyone.
