The month of August can be full of gifts for central employees (7th Pay Commission Central Government employees), next month employees can get many big gifts like dearness allowance, DA dues and fitment factor.

According to media reports, with the announcement of new DA in August, increasing the fitment factor can also be considered and it can be implemented from 1 September 2022. However, no formal announcement has been made by the government so far.

Actually, fitment factor is considered to play an important role in deciding the basic salary of central employees. The pay matrix prepared in the 7th Pay Commission is based on the fitment factor i.e. the revised basic pay based on the fitment factor is calculated from the old basic pay.

Due to this, the salary of central employees increases by more than two and a half times. The fitment factor is an important recommendation in the Pay Commission report, on the basis of which the increment will be decided.

According to media reports, at present, the central employees are getting the fitment factor at the rate of 2.57 percent and the employee organizations have been demanding to increase it for a long time, so there is a possibility that it can be increased to 3.68 percent. The cabinet meeting is to be held on August 3 under the chairmanship of PM Narendra Modi, in which the proposal of fitment factor can be considered.

If it is approved then the minimum basic pay will be 8000 and the basic pay will increase from 18000 to 26000. Last time the entry level basic pay was increased from Rs 7000 to Rs 18000 per month in 2017 and now it is increased. So it will be directly 26000.

According to media reports, the minimum pay scale under the Sixth Pay Commission was Rs 7,000 with a fitment factor of 1.86 times and an increment of 54%. Under the 7th Pay Commission, the minimum pay scale has gone up to Rs 18,000, with a fitment factor of 2.57 times and an increment of 14.29 per cent.

Now if the fitment factor under 8th pay commission is 3.68 times then the minimum pay scale will be 26,000. For example, if the basic pay of a central employee is Rs 18,000, then his salary excluding allowances would be 18,000 X 2.57 = profit of Rs 46,260. Salary on 3.68 will be Rs 95,680 (26000 X 3.68 = 95,680) i.e. Rs 49,420 in salary.

Will 8th pay commission be applicable

A big update has come to the fore regarding the 8th Pay Commission (8th Pay Commission) amidst speculations of a 6% increase in dearness allowance in August. According to media reports, after the 7th Pay Commission, now the 8th Pay Commission can come.

The late former finance minister Arun Jaitley had also indicated in a speech in Parliament in 2016 that if sources are to be believed, the Modi government may now introduce a new pay commission and it will be implemented from January 1, 2026. With its implementation, the minimum pay level matrix of central employees can start from Rs 1 to 26,000. However, there has been no confirmation from the government yet.
