To retain talent in civil hospitals in Maharashtra’s BMC, a plan is being prepared to increase the salaries of doctors and physios working on contract. The salary package revision is aimed at addressing the weak response to the BMC recruitment drive. 400 doctors will benefit from this. A 25% increase in the salary of doctors and 60% increase in the salary of physiotherapists can be proposed.
60% increase in salary of physiotherapists proposed
The delivery has been submitted for final approval. Especially contract doctors will get this benefit. Additional Municipal Corporation Commissioner Sudhakar Shinde said that often private hospitals are facing shortage of valuable doctors. In such a situation, more attractive compensation and benefits have been offered. 400 doctors are expected to benefit from the proposed salary hike.
The doctors who will benefit from this salary increase. Apart from contract doctors, they will include specialist doctors, assistant medical officers, occupational and physiotherapists etc. Under the proposal issued, if the initial salary limit for Assistant Medical Officer is Rs 72 thousand then it can be increased to Rs 90000. If the doctor has PG qualification then it can increase up to Rs 1 lakh.
For cadre like physiotherapist, the salary will be increased from Rs 25000 to Rs 40000. This will be increased by 60%. The outline proposal for salary increase has been submitted to the Municipal Corporation Commissioner for final approval. The salary increase is especially for doctors working on contract basis.
Permanent members of staff will not get this benefit. It is expected that this proposal can be approved soon. With the approval of the proposal, the salary of doctors will see an increase of 25% while that of physiotherapists will see an increase of 60%. In such a situation, an increase in his salary from Rs 5000 to Rs 40000 is certain.
