A special news related to the electricity consumers of Punjab is coming out. Now people in Punjab have started getting electricity bills in Punjabi language as well. Earlier, the bill slip was available only in English. Now the department is printing bills in Punjabi language along with English and giving them to the people.
It is noteworthy that during the hearing of the writ petition demanding issuance of electricity bills in Punjabi language, the Punjab government informed the Punjab-Haryana High Court that this provision has been implemented since December 26, while now electricity bills are coming in both Punjabi and English languages.
In this writ, while demanding printing of bills in Punjabi, it was said that people in the villages of the state face difficulty in understanding electricity bills due to lack of knowledge of English. In view of which, the Punjab government started printing electricity bills in both languages.
