Madhya Pradesh Electricity Bill Hike: Electricity rates in Madhya Pradesh will increase by 3.46 percent from April. Smart meter users will get a discount of 20 percent. The bill for up to 100 units will increase by Rs 24, but under the Atal Griha Jyoti Yojana, only Rs 100 will have to be paid.
In Madhya Pradesh, before the rising heat, the common people have suffered a severe electricity shock. In fact, once again the electricity prices have increased in the state. New electricity rates have also been fixed. This means that from April onwards, the people of the state will have to pay higher electricity bills.
Due to electricity being 3.46 percent more expensive, people will now have to pay the bill. However, smart meter users will definitely get some relief. In fact, the State Electricity Regulatory Commission has issued a new tariff order. The new tariff is going to be implemented in a few days. The power company had demanded a hike of about 7.52 percent. Then the commission approved an increase of 3.46 percent. The system of discounts and incentives for prepaid consumers will continue.
Consumers who use smart meters in their homes, shops and offices will get a discount of up to 20 percent on their electricity usage rates during the day. Consumers will not have to pay any metering charges.

For domestic consumers, the tariff has been increased by Rs 24 on bills up to 100 units, but these consumers will have to pay only Rs 100 as before under the Atal Griha Jyoti Yojana. The state government will pay the increased amount as subsidy.
When will the new rate be implemented?
The new electricity rates will be implemented from April. In the month of May, people will have to pay electricity bills at increased rates. Those consuming up to 50 units of electricity in a month will now have to pay 18 paise more per unit. While those consuming up to 150 units will have to pay a higher electricity bill of 26 paise per unit.
