Electricity consumers of Bihar can get up to 3 percent discount on paying electricity bills on time. The Energy Department of the State Government has shared information in this regard.

The department has explained how consumers can avail this discount by paying electricity bills in an easy way. The main objective of this scheme is to encourage people to pay on time. Consumers who pay on time will be given many types of discounts and other benefits.

Benefits of paying electricity bill on time

  • Discount on bill: Consumers will get 1.5 percent discount on paying electricity bill on time.
  • Benefit on online payment: Additional 1% discount will be given on online payment.
  • Benefits to smart meter consumers: Consumers who have smart meters installed in their homes will get an additional discount of 0.5 percent. This discount can be up to a maximum of 3 percent.
  • Incentive in Rural Areas: Rural consumers will get 1% discount on regular payment for 3 consecutive months.
  • Billing Charge Waiver: Late Fee (DPS) will be waived if payment is made on time.

Interest is also applicable on keeping balance in smart meter
Such smart meter consumers who maintain a balance of more than Rs 2,000 continuously for three months will also be given interest at the bank rate.

Why is timely payment important?

Not paying the electricity bill on time may result in disruption of power supply and consumers may also be deprived of beneficial schemes.

How to deposit electricity bill

  • Online: Bills can be deposited through the Suvidha mobile app or website ( nbpdcl.co.in / sbpdcl.co.in ).
  • Offline: Payment can be made by cash at electricity centres.
  • CSC Center: You can also make the payment by visiting the nearest Jan Seva Kendra.
  • You can also make the payment by visiting the weekly bill collection camp.
  • Door collection facility is also being provided by rural revenue franchisees and agencies.
