Mumbai: Amidst the Maharashtra elections, a big news has come for the women eligible under the Chief Minister Ladli Behan Yojana. So far, more than 2.4 crore eligible women have received five months’ installment under this scheme.

However, during the election period, women will not be able to get further installments. Because the Ladli Behan scheme has been temporarily suspended. Let’s know what are the reasons for this?

Election Commission gave order

Actually the Central Election Commission has announced the schedule of assembly elections in Maharashtra. According to this, voting will be held in a single phase in the state on November 20. Therefore, the code of conduct has been implemented in the state. The Election Commission has directed the state government to stop financial schemes that directly affect the voters during the code of conduct period.

When will the money for Ladli Behan Yojana come?

After the order of the Election Commission, the Women and Child Welfare Department has stopped the funds required for this scheme. Due to this, eligible women will not be able to get the money of Ladli Behan Yojana till the elections. Meanwhile, the state government had made the payment of October and November months together under this scheme. Therefore, now we have to wait for the December installment.

What is the real reason for stopping the scheme?

Schemes that directly influence the voters by giving them financial benefits should be stopped immediately. Instructions for this have been issued by the Chief Electoral Officer’s office to all the administrative departments. Along with this, the schemes giving financial benefits were also reviewed. Chief Electoral Officer S Chokkalingam asked all the departments about this.

During this, it has come to light that the Women and Child Welfare Department is providing a large amount of financial benefits for the Ladli Behan Yojana. Therefore, information about this scheme has been sought from the department. The Commission was told that the department has stopped the distribution of the amount of this scheme four days ago. As a result, the scheme has been temporarily suspended due to the election code of conduct.

Diwali of Ladli Bahan was dull

Actually, before the announcement of elections, Shinde government had announced bonus for the beneficiaries of Ladli Bahan Yojana. Under this, three thousand to 55 hundred rupees were to be given to the beneficiaries. Now after the ban by the Election Commission, the hope of Ladli Bahan getting money on Diwali is over.

What is the eligibility for Ladli Bahan Yojana?

Women of Maharashtra had applied online for this scheme. It is necessary to be a permanent resident of Maharashtra state to apply. The age of the female applicant should be between 21 to 65 years. All married, unmarried, abandoned, divorced and destitute women are eligible. The applicant should have a bank account in his name in any bank. The family income of the applicants should not exceed Rs 2.5 lakh.
