The free bus travel scheme of the Delhi government will continue as before. The state’s CM Rekha Gupta has made it easier for women to travel in it. Along with this, some conditions have been added.
Now those women who are residents of Delhi will get the benefit of free bus travel in Rajdham. The second condition is that women of Delhi will have to register to avail this facility. Now this means that if any woman comes from any other state, then she will not get the benefit of this facility. The government has made preparations to issue lifetime smart cards for women.
Women will have to register to get a lifetime smart card. The registration process for this will also start soon. Till now women have to buy pink tickets to travel free in Delhi’s DTC buses, but now they will have to get a smart card. In this way, women will not have to buy pink tickets again and again. Through this, women will be able to travel easily.
Get rid of pink corruption
This decision has been taken after the recent assembly statement of state CM Rekha Gupta. In this, she had alleged corruption in the ‘pink ticket’ system under the previous Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government. Gupta said that we are committed to providing this service to women. Corruption will not be tolerated. We will launch digital travel cards for women. This will eliminate the ‘pink corruption’ associated with physical tickets. CM Rekha said that the new digital card will provide women the facility to travel in public buses at any time. Transparency will be brought by eliminating irregularities in the ticketing process. Gupta stressed on upgrading the entire system to make this system even better.
Free bus service started in the year 2019
Let us tell you that the ‘Pink Ticket’ scheme was started by the AAP government in the year 2019 on the occasion of Bhai Dooj. Under this scheme, women were given the facility to travel free in Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) buses. Women are given pink tickets for single travel, which cost Rs 10 per ticket. The Delhi government bears this cost and bus companies are compensated based on the number of tickets issued. This has increased the number of women passengers in Delhi government buses.
