The government has made a big change in the rules for getting a driving license. Now the applicant will not need to give driving test in the government regional transport office (RTO).

According to the Business Standard report, private institutions will now be authorized to conduct driving tests and issue certificates. So that the people whom he has trained can be given driving licenses.

It has also been told in the report that this new rule will be implemented from June 1, 2024. Before this, the government has issued a public notification. A notable aspect in this new rules of the government is that about 9,00,000 old government vehicles will be removed in a phased manner.

According to the rules, the fine for speeding is Rs 1000-2000. If a minor is caught driving, he will have to pay a fine of Rs 25,000. Otherwise, the driving license of the owner of the vehicle will be canceled and the minor will not be able to get a license till the age of 25 years.

Rules for training Centre:

The government has also made some special rules for driving training centers across the country. For example, what should be their qualification and what kind of facilities should be provided at the centers.

How much land is needed

At least 1 acre of land will be required for this facility. Apart from this, it will be mandatory for the driving training center to have additional 2 acres of land for four wheelers.

Rules for access:

Driving training center should be at such a place where it is easily accessible to everyone without any hassle. Meaning there should not be any obstruction in the way of commuting.

Qualification of trainers:

Trainers must have at least a high school diploma or equivalent educational qualification. Additionally, they must have at least 5 years of driving experience.

Apart from this, driving trainers are also required to have basic knowledge of biometrics and information technology systems.

Training time:

Light vehicle training must be completed in less than 4 weeks with a minimum of 29 hours of training. This training will be in two sections, theoretical and practical.

Theoretical training should be of 8 hours, while 21 hours have been fixed for practical. The government is making these rules so that only qualified drivers can get the license.

Heavy vehicles training:

38 hours training will be mandatory for heavy motor vehicles. In which 8 hours of theoretical education and 31 hours of practical are included. This training should be completed within 6 weeks.

How much will the fees be:

Learner License: Rs 200
Learner License Renewal: Rs 200
Permanent license: Rs 200
International License: Rs 1000
