Delhi’s Water Minister Atishi has warned of challans for wasting or overusing water. She said that one can be fined for washing cars with tap water or allowing water tanks to overflow. The maximum temperature has reached 49.9 degrees Celsius at some places. The entire Delhi-NCR is in the grip of severe heat and heat wave. Due to heat wave, cases of heat stroke are also increasing now.

Delhi government told the reason
Atishi also accused Haryana of not releasing Delhi’s share of water. She said that Haryana is not giving Delhi’s share of water since May 1. Due to this, the Delhi government will implement several measures, including rationalizing the water supply in the national capital. If this issue is not resolved soon, then Delhi will knock the doors of the Supreme Court. Atishi said in a press conference on Tuesday evening that if the supply of Yamuna water to Delhi does not improve in the coming days, then the Delhi government can approach the Supreme Court. According to Atishi, many areas of Delhi are facing water shortage.

This is the reason why the government has appealed to use water properly and efficiently in Delhi. The government has warned that if Delhiites do not pay heed to this appeal and do not use water properly, then they may be fined for excessive use or wastage of water. Atishi has also appealed to people not to wash vehicles with water through pipes. According to her, if people do not pay heed to this public appeal, then the government may have to issue a challan for excessive use of water. Misuse of water is extremely irresponsible. It is also being said that in the places in Delhi where water used to come twice a day, now it will come only once.
Mercury around 50 in Delhi
In fact, like many areas of north-west India, Delhi is also in the grip of severe heat. On Tuesday, the maximum temperature at two automatic weather stations in Mungeshpur and Narela reached 49.9 degrees Celsius. Manual observatories located at Ayanagar and Ridge near Delhi University also recorded maximum temperatures of 47.6 degrees Celsius and 47.5 degrees Celsius respectively. The maximum temperature at Delhi’s base station Safdarjung reached 45.8 degrees Celsius, which is the highest so far this season and the highest temperature since May 2020. At that time it had reached 46 degrees Celsius.
