Traveling in Delhi Metro is now going to be easier for the passengers. Now passengers will get rid of the long queues at metro stations during the journey. Actually, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) is now going to start the facility of traveling through National Common Mobility Card (NCMC) in the entire metro network after the Airport Express Line.
At least one or two AFC (Automatic Fare Collection) gates are being reserved at entry and exit points of all metro stations for fare collection through NCMC cards. Apart from this, QR codes will also be installed at the entry and exit gates, which passengers will be able to scan with their mobile phones and travel in the metro.
Software will read only NCMC card One or two gates on one side, right or left, are being reserved for those traveling with NCMC card at all metro stations at the entry and exit points of the AFC gate. According to DMRC officials, a different type of software will be installed in these gates, which will only read NCMC cards. Along with this, a QR code scanner will also be installed at these gates.
Passengers will be able to travel in the metro by scanning it from their phones. At the same time, soon the facility of buying tickets through account-based tickets and Near Field Communication (NFC) will also be available from these gates. With this, passengers will be able to travel in the metro even by punching the QR code of the ticket present in their phone at the gate.
Now there will be no need of smart card of metro After the introduction of this new system for entry in metro, there will be no need of smart card to travel in metro. Now passengers will be able to enter the metro using their bank’s debit or credit card or mobile phone only. At the same time, their rent will be deducted directly from their bank account. The QR code at the gate will also be linked to the NCMC system.
Through this, just as we scan the QR code from our mobile wallet and pay through UPI directly from our bank account, similarly we will be able to pay for the ticket for traveling in the Metro.
When will this facility start
According to a DMRC spokesperson, there is a plan to start this facility in the entire network of Delhi Metro by the end of March or in the beginning of April. For this, the work of reserving gates is being done at a fast pace. Along with this, some changes are also being made in the design of the gates.
A photo of a card which looks like a metro smart card with NDMC written on the entry and exit gates is being pasted. Along with this, QR codes are also being installed. Apart from this, to reduce the crowd of other people at the reserve gates, stickers written ‘Card Only’ are also being put on the gates.
