Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lay the foundation stone of two corridors under the fourth phase of Delhi Metro today. This program will be held at JLN Stadium. The new metro route will connect Indralok to Indraprastha and Lajpat Nagar to Saket G block. The total length of both the routes is more than 20 km. With the start of the new route, connectivity will increase and about 2.5 lakh people will benefit from it.

The Union Cabinet led by PM Modi approved this project on Wednesday. This will bring big changes in the infrastructure of cities. A total of Rs 8,399 crore will be spent on these two corridors. Out of this, the Central Government will raise Rs 4,309 crore, the remaining money will be raised through Delhi Government and international funding.

Indralok-Indraprastha corridor is being prepared as an extension of the Green Line. It will cross six other lines, which will increase the connectivity of the entire network. On the other hand, Lajpat Nagar-Saket G Block corridor will be completely elevated and it will connect four lines.

There will be eight elevated stations in the metro corridor from Lajpat Nagar to Saket G Block. This metro will pass through important areas like Andrews Ganj and Greater Kailash-1. Eight new interchange stations will be built on this corridor. After which the connectivity of the existing metro network will also increase.

A total of 65 kilometers of new corridor is being built during the fourth phase of Delhi Metro. These corridors will also be a part of this. These will be expanded in different phases and a target has been set to complete them by March 2026. Union Minister Anurag Thakur had told that the route from Lajpat Nagar to Saket G block will be 8.4 kilometers long. The length of Indralok to Indraprastha line will be 12.4 kilometers.

The extension of Indralok-Indraprastha corridor will connect with Red, Yellow, Airport Line, Magenta, Violet and Blue Line. Lajpat Nagar-Saket G Block corridor will connect Silver, Magenta, Pink and Violet Lines.
