Delhi Govt Scheme: Delhi Chief Minister Atishi launched ‘Delhi Solar Portal’. Through this, people in the capital will now be able to take advantage of the Delhi Solar Policy and the bills of customers consuming more than 400 units of electricity will also be zero.
From installing solar panels through the portal to getting subsidy from the government, people will be able to get all the facilities through a single click from home. On the occasion of the launch, Atishi said that if any person living in Delhi wants to install solar panels on the roof of his house, then Delhi Solar Portal is a single window solution for him, on which all the information required for installing solar panels will be available.
Facility of installing solar panels at home
Information about empanelled vendors and the cost of installing panels will also be available on the portal and solar panels can be installed from home. Also, people will be able to apply for net metering and government subsidy from the portal itself without visiting any office. The CM said that through the solar calculator available on the portal, people will be able to know how much solar energy can be produced from their rooftop by giving the data of the size of their roof, how many kilowatt panels will have to be installed for that and how much will it cost to install the panels.
Delhi government’s solar policy was launched in March 2024
The Delhi government has always been committed towards adopting clean and pollution-free energy sources. Delhi is the only state in the country which has shut down all its thermal power plants so that the people living in Delhi do not have to face pollution. The Delhi government launched the Delhi Solar Policy on 14 March 2024.
The government aims to meet 25 percent of the energy used in Delhi by 2027 through solar energy. For this, Delhi’s power companies will enter into a power purchase agreement for 3,750 MW of solar power in the next three years. Also, 750 MW of electricity will be produced through rooftop solar on the roofs of homes and offices. Rooftop solar will be installed on the roof of every building of the Delhi government.
In this way, you will have to pay the bill of only 100 units.
Atishi said, ‘People in Delhi get free electricity up to 200 units and subsidy up to 400 units. Often the question is, what about those who use more than 400 units of electricity? Delhi Solar Policy is the answer to all their questions.’ She told that through this policy, people can get zero electricity bill even if they consume more than 400 units of electricity. If a person consumes 400 units of electricity and produces 300 units of it through the solar panel installed on his rooftop, then he will have to pay the bill of only 100 units to the electricity company.
No need to visit any government office
Customers who install rooftop solar panels will be able to apply for net metering from home through the portal. People can also apply for government subsidy through the solar portal and they will not have to visit any government office. CM Atishi said that people who currently pay electricity bills will now take money from the government after installing rooftop solar panels. Money will come to their account every month in the form of generation based incentive. I hope that people will enthusiastically install solar panels on their rooftops and in the coming years we will achieve the target of producing 750 MW of electricity through solar energy.
