Let us tell you that to continue this monthly pension, it is necessary to submit the Annual Identification Life Certificate. If you do not do this, you may have to face difficulties in getting pension. Whereas, pensioners who have submitted their life certificates can check their status on the SPARSH portal.

Ministry’s statement The Defense Ministry said in its statement that the ministry had earlier approved the extension of pension payment for three months to those pensioners of banks who had migrated to SPARSH and were to be identified in November 2022. As per the information available with the Defense Accounts Department, 390366 Defense Pensioners who are getting pension through SPARSH have not yet completed their Annual Identification.

Legacy pensioners to submit life certificates as before The ministry further informed that legacy pensioners i.e. officers retired before 2016, who have not yet gone to SPARSH, can submit their life certificates in the same way as they have been doing in previous years .

Know what is SPARSH

SPARSH is a web-based system for processing pension claims and crediting pension directly to the bank accounts of defense pensioners without any external intermediary. The system is being implemented by the Ministry of Defense to meet the pension, sanction and disbursement needs of the Armed Forces.

Pensioners do not have to visit the office, the ministry says that it is a centralized approval, claim and pension disbursement system with easy verification and correction of data through self-verification. This is a digital process for the identification of the pensioner. Due to this, pensioners do not have to visit the pension office again and again.
