Central Government can soon give a big gift to the central employees. The government is contemplating to increase the salary of the employees. Soon a decision can be taken on the increase in DA of central employees (DA Hike). The retail inflation rate in the country has come down in the month of July and now it has come down to below seven percent. However, the inflation rate still remains above the target set by the Reserve Bank (RBI). In such a situation, it is expected that soon the government may increase the DA of central employees.
Nothing has been said by the government about the increase in DA of central employees so far. However, the government has made it clear that at present there is no preparation to bring the Eighth Pay Commission. DA is part of the salary structure of government employees. The government changes it every six months.
The last time the government increased DA was in March 2022. Then there was an increase of three per cent in DA. Since six months have been completed for the change in DA, the employees are hopeful that soon the government can increase their salary.

In the month of July, the retail inflation rate has come down to 6.71 percent. In June it was 7.01 per cent. In such a situation, the government may increase the DA by 4 percent. When the inflation rate was more than 7 percent, it was expected that the DA may increase by 5 percent. At present, central employees are getting DA at the rate of 34 per cent. The DA of employees is fixed on the basis of All India Consumer Price Index (AICPI).

If the government increases the DA by 4 per cent in July keeping in view the inflation figures, then 50 lakh employees and 65 lakh pensioners will get the benefit. The DA received by government employees is part of their financial assistance salary structure. The government increases DA according to inflation, so that the standard of living of the employees is not affected in any way.
According to an estimate, if the basic salary of an employee is Rs 18,000, then his dearness allowance is Rs 6,120 according to 34 percent. Now if the DA is 38 percent, then the employee will get dearness allowance of Rs 6,840. In this way, he will get an annual salary of Rs 8,640 more.
