7th Pay Commission DA Hike: The Central Government has recently increased Dearness Allowance (DA) for lakhs of its employees (Central Govt Employees) and Dearness Relief (DR) for pensioners.
Now the government can soon give another gift to these employees and pensioners. According to the news going on in the media, the central government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi may once again increase the dearness allowance in July.
Allowance has increased once
The government has recently increased DA and DR by 4-4 per cent. The increased rates have come into effect from January 1, 2023. Now again there are speculations of increasing DA and DR. If this happens, then the salary of about 50 lakh central government employees will increase once again. Apart from this, the pensioners of the central government will also start getting more money.
Increases twice
According to the 7th Pay Commission, DA and DR are increased twice a year. For the first time dearness allowance and relief are increased in January and the second revision takes place in July. The government takes this decision on the basis of All-India CPI data i.e. AICPI Index (All India Consumer Price Index). Its figures are issued by the Labor Bureau under the Ministry of Labor and Employment. DA/DR component has been added to the salary/pension of government employees and pensioners to protect them from inflation.
Speculations of such an increase
According to a press release from the Labor Bureau, the AICPI index decreased by 0.1 points to stand at 132.7 in the month of February. This index stood at 132.8 points in January. The data for the month of March will be released on 28 April 2023. On the basis of the available data of February, speculations are being made to increase dearness allowance and relief once again. It is believed that the central government can increase DA and DR by 3-3 percent from July 1.
Now the rate of DA is
Due to the Corona epidemic, the amendment in DA was stopped for some time in between. After a gap of about one and a half years, the central government had increased DA and DR from 17 per cent to 28 per cent in July 2021. After this, in October 2021, it was increased from 28 percent to 31 percent. After that there was a continuous increase in the rates of DA and DR and now it is 42 percent. If the estimates of 3 per cent hike in July turn out to be true, then the effective rate of DA and DR will increase to 45 per cent.
