The Finance Ministry has issued a notification for the revised rates of Dearness Allowance (DA). On Monday, the Finance Ministry has issued an Office Memorandum for a 4% increase in DA Hike. This time the dearness allowance has been increased to 42% by the Modi government.

Increased DA will be paid in April salary

On March 24, the cabinet had approved the increase of 4% dearness allowance of central employees. After this, on Monday, April 3, the Finance Ministry has also issued its notification. Now the central government employees will get an increased payment of four percent in the salary of April. Along with this, three months’ arrear money will also be given to them. DA will now be paid at the rate of 42% in the salary of central employees.

DA Hike implemented from January 1

Dearness Allowance (DA) and Dearness Relief (DR) for central government employees and pensioners have been increased by 4 percent. It has been implemented from 1 January 2023. The arrears from January to March will also be paid to the employees and pensioners. This will increase the financial burden of Rs 12,815 crore annually on the government.

How was DA Hike decided?

The Labor Bureau calculates dearness allowance and dearness relief for employees and pensioners every month. For this, calculation is done on the basis of Consumer Price Index (CPI-IW). The Labor Bureau is part of the Ministry of Labour. There has been an increase of 4% in the allowance for the employees and pensioners since the last two times.

Big gift to pensioners too

Lakhs of pensioners of the country have also got the benefit of dearness relief under the 7th Pay Commission. Along with DA Hike, Dearness Relief (DR Hike) has also increased by 4 percent. Pensioners will also be paid dearness relief at the rate of 42%. Also, there will be arrears of 3 months in the pension of pensioners.
