An increase of 3 to 4 percent is expected in Dearness Allowance (DA). If the government increases, then this DA can increase from 50% to 54%. This year in March 2024 also, the government had increased it by 4%, after which DA became 50%. DA is reviewed every six months. Whenever the announcement is made, it is considered effective from January 1 and October 1. This time Diwali bonus will also come in the salary of October.

DA will increase under inflation pressure:

Dearness Allowance is an essential part for employees and pensioners, which is based on the average of the All India Consumer Price Index (AICPI). If there is a 3% increase this time, then those whose basic salary is ₹ 18,000 will get monthly DA increased from ₹ 9,000 to ₹ 9,540. If there is a 4% increase, it can reach ₹ 9,720.

Relief expected in festive season:

The announcement of DA hike in October is expected to provide financial relief to employees and pensioners during the festive season. This hike will be helpful in tackling inflation and 1 crore government employees and pensioners will get direct benefit from it.

Preparation for 8th Pay Commission:

The government’s focus right now is on increasing DA and controlling inflation, but at the same time discussions are also going on regarding the Eighth Pay Commission. At present, employees are waiting to get the gift of DA increase on the occasion of Navratri.
