DA Hike on Holi: Dearness Allowance expected to increase by 2% before Holi, Know all Details

DA Hike 2025: Central government employees are going to get good news very soon. This will benefit lakhs of government employees and pensioners. Actually, there is news that the Modi government can give a big gift to central employees and pensioners before Holi .

The Center is going to announce a hike in DA and DR for the January-June salary hike cycle before Holi. According to reports, the government may announce a 2 percent DA hike before Holi this month. Let us tell you that the DA hike, which is announced twice a year (effective from January and July), increases the take-home salary of central government employees according to the inflation rate.

DA likely to increase this month

According to a report by News18, the dearness allowance of central government employees is expected to increase by 2% in the DA hike that will take place before Holi. After this, the dearness allowance will increase from 53 to 55 percent of the basic salary. However, the final decision on this will be taken in the cabinet meeting to be chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi .

Let us tell you that the festival of Holi is on March 14, 2025. In the last DA hike in October 2024, central government employees got a DA hike of 3 percent from July 1, 2024. After the hike, DA increased from 50 percent of the basic salary to 53 percent. Pensioners also got the same increase in dearness relief. Let us tell you that DA is given to government employees, while DR is given to pensioners.

How much will be the salary increase?

On the 2% DA hike, entry-level central government employees, whose basic salary is around Rs 18,000 per month, will see their salary increase in the range of Rs 360 per month from January 1, 2025. If someone’s salary is Rs 30,000 per month and his basic salary is Rs 18,000, he will now get Rs 9,540 as dearness allowance, which is 53 per cent of the basic salary.

However, after the expected 2 per cent hike, the employee will get Rs 9,900 per month, which is Rs 360 more. However, in case of a 3 per cent DA hike, the employee will get an increase of 540 in dearness allowance which will be Rs 10,080 per month. Let us tell you that according to some media reports, there is also news of an increase of 3 to 4 percent in the DA of government employees.
