Union Budget 2024: The government can give a special gift to government employees in the new year. This time it is expected that the government can announce 50 percent Dearness Allowance (DA). The Central Government revises the rates of Dearness Allowance (DR) of central employees and Dearness Relief (DR) of pensioners twice a year in January and July. At present, central employees are getting 46 percent DA as per the 7th Pay Commission. If the government increases DA by 4 percent, it will increase from 46 percent to 50 percent.

Dearness allowance may be 50 percent

The amount of increase in dearness allowance depends on the data of AICPI. Employees are also expecting an increase in DA from the beginning of the new year. If the government increases the dearness allowance of the employees to 50 percent, then there may be a big increase in the salary and allowances of the employees.

Salary will increase by this much

Dearness Allowance (DA Hike) of central government employees increases twice a year. At present, employees are getting dearness allowance at the rate of 46 percent. If the government increases DA by 4 percent from January, then dearness allowance will increase from 46 percent to 50 percent. If the government takes such a decision, there will be a minimum direct increase of Rs 9000 in the salary of the employees.

DA will become zero once it reaches 50 percent

The rule of dearness allowance is that in the year 2016, when the government implemented the 7th Pay Commission, then dearness allowance was reduced to zero. According to the rules, as soon as the dearness allowance reaches 50 percent, it will be reduced to zero and the amount of allowance given to the employees at the rate of 50 percent will be added to the basic salary. If the basic salary of an employee is Rs 18000 then he will get Rs 9000 of 50% DA. But, when DA becomes 50 percent, it will be added to the basic salary and again dearness allowance will become zero.
