This decision has been taken by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar in the cabinet meeting. Under the 7th Pay Commission, government employees in the state are currently getting 42 percent DA. Now after increasing DA by 4 percent, dearness allowance will increase to 46 percent.

4.5 lakh employees of Bihar will benefit

According to media reports, it will be given along with the salary coming in DA. Also, employees will get four months DA arrears. The report states that the increase in DA will be effective from July 1, 2023. This means that the employee will also get period arrears between July and October. The decision to increase DA will benefit about 4.5 lakh state government employees in Bihar and the DR increase will benefit about 6 lakh pensioners of the state.

This state has increased DA

Apart from Bihar government, many state governments had also increased DA along with DR for pensioners. This is in line with the Centre’s decision to increase DA for central government employees by 4 percent in October. After the central government increased DA, other states of the country are also increasing DA.

The count of states increasing DA includes the states and union territories of Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Karnataka, Chandigarh, Uttar Pradesh and Tamil Nadu. The central government and most of the states have increased dearness allowance and dearness relief during the period of Dussehra and Diwali. DA is given in the salaries of government employees to cope with inflation.
