Dearness Allowance Hike: The government has made a big announcement for the central government employees. The government has said that with the dearness allowance crossing 50 percent, the other 13 allowances of the employees will also increase by 25%.
In March itself, the dearness allowance of central government employees was increased by 4 percent, which has increased their DA to 50 percent. In the same sequence, to reduce the impact of rising prices, dearness relief (DR) for retired central government employees has also been increased by 4 percent to 50 percent. As a result, the salary and pension of central government employees has increased.
The government issued a circular
Now that DA has touched the 50% mark, some other allowances will also increase. These allowances also include House Rent Allowance (HRA). According to a circular issued by the Department of Personnel and Training on July 4, 2024, “Attention is invited to the following orders issued recently by the Department of Expenditure/DoPT and it is requested that after increasing the Dearness Allowance from 4% to 50%, the following allowances may be paid at the increased rates of 25% from the existing rates from 01.01.2024.”

Increase in these allowances
There will be a 25 percent increase in the allowance given to employees working in tough locations. The allowances given under this have been divided into three parts. Apart from this, vehicle allowance, special allowance for children of handicapped women, allowance for children, education allowance, house rent allowance, dress allowance, duty allowance and deputation duty allowance have been increased by 25 percent.
