The demand for 18 months arrears of dearness allowance has been being made by the central employees for a long time. But there is no consensus on this. Now it is expected that on the occasion of new year, a decision can come in favor of the employees from the government.

How far has the matter progressed on the arrears?

In the last days, the representatives of the Employees and Pensioners’ Union had also met the Cabinet Secretary regarding the demand for the arrears of Dearness Allowance (DA) for 18 months. However, during that time no information came out on how far the talks on arrears progressed. But experts are hopeful that in the coming days, a consensus can be reached on many issues in the cabinet meeting. In this, there will be talks mainly on dearness allowance and arrears of the employees.

There is a possibility of increasing the DA by 3 to 4 percent.

During this, positive steps can be taken by the government even on the demand of the employees organizations which have been going on for months. Apart from this, the DA of January 2023 is also likely to be increased by 3 to 4 percent. In this meeting, the transfer of the 13th installment of PM Kisan to the farmers’ account is also expected to be stamped. The government had earlier refused for DA arrears of 18 months. But after the talks, there is a discussion in the media that a consensus can be reached regarding this.

DA was not received for 18 months

Let us tell you that during the Covid-19 epidemic, the central government employees have not received DA from January 2020 to June 2021. In this year and a half, the government had increased DA by 11 percent. Although its payment was frozen.

According to the employees, the court has also accepted that the government should not withhold the money of the employees. This is their right. The employees had appealed in the court regarding the demand of arrears. Pensioners had also appealed to PM Modi regarding this.
