There is a big news for central employees. The government has announced DA and DR hike for central employees and pensioners. The government has announced a 2% increase in Dearness Allowance (DA) and Dearness Relief (DR) for central employees. With this pay revision, DA will increase from 53% to 55%. Let us tell you that more than 12 million central government employees and pensioners will benefit from this under the 7th Pay Commission.

What is the detail

Let us tell you that the Center usually announces DA and DR hike twice a year. Once in March and then in October. The DA hike announced in March usually comes into effect from January and the DA hike announced in October usually comes into effect from July. Earlier, the Center had increased DA by 3% from 50% to 53% in October 2024. In the last hike in March 2024, DA was increased from 46% to 50%.

How much will the salary increase

If the basic salary of an employee is Rs 18,000, he will now get Rs 360 every month. Actually, till now an employee with a basic salary of Rs 18,000 gets 53% allowance which is equal to Rs 9540. This will become Rs 9900 at the rate of 55 percent. This means that central employees will now get Rs 360 more every month. However, this increase is the lowest in the last several years. Let us tell you that the government has also constituted the Eighth Pay Commission. This pay commission will give recommendations on the salary and allowances of central employees, which is expected to be implemented from January 2026.

DA Hike Calculation

Generally, the DA hike is calculated based on the All India Consumer Price Index for Industrial Workers (AICPI-IW) data. The central government then assesses the data for the past six months before deciding on any revision.
