Cyclone Fengal Update: The cyclone ‘Fengal’ that arose from the Bay of Bengal has now assumed a serious form. In view of this, the Indian Meteorological Department has issued a red alert. The cyclone is likely to hit the Tamil Nadu and Puducherry coasts.
The cyclonic storm will hit the coast with sustained winds of 90 kmph. The IMD has predicted heavy to very heavy rain due to the impact of the cyclonic storm. Along with the people of the affected areas, the administration has also been advised to be vigilant. 13 flights from Chennai airport have been canceled due to the impact of the cyclone.
IMD scientists say that Cyclone Fanjal will hit the Indian coast around noon on November 30. Meanwhile, the wind speed is expected to be 90 km per hour. The effects of the cyclone are already visible. North Tamil Nadu and Puducherry also recorded good rainfall on Friday. Heavy to very heavy rain is likely after the cyclone makes landfall. Due to heavy rains and strong winds, there is a possibility of disrupting the supply of essential goods as well as electricity and transport system. The administration of the concerned areas have been instructed to be vigilant.
IMD’s Red Alert
is seeing a change in the weather in view of the changed conditions in the Bay of Bengal. In view of the change in the weather, the IMD has issued a red alert. The Meteorological Department has predicted heavy to very heavy rain. Heavy rain is expected in Chennai, Thiruvallur, Chengalpattu, Kanchipuram, Villupuram, Kalakurichi, Cuddalore and Puducherry on Saturday November 30. Heavy to very heavy rain may occur at one or two places. Apart from this, heavy rain is expected in Ranipet, Thiruvannamalai, Vellore, Perambalur, Ariyalur, Thanjavur, Thiruvarur, Mayiladuthurai, Nagapattinam districts as well as Karaikal.
IMD Update
According to IMD, Cyclone Fanjal will hit the Tamil Nadu-Puducherry coast on the afternoon of November 30. It will hit between Karaikal and Mahabalipuram as a cyclonic storm. Meanwhile, its speed is likely to be between 70 to 90 km per hour. In view of the cyclone, an alert has been issued at the Puducherry port, so that extra precautions should be taken.
