Cooperative Taxi Platform: Platforms like Ola, Uber and Rapido may now face a new challenge. In fact, the central government is going to start a cooperative taxi service called ‘Sahakar Taxi’ very soon.
The central government on Thursday announced the launch of a new cooperative taxi ‘Sahakar Taxi’. It aims to provide bike, cab and auto services. With the launch of this cooperative taxi service, platforms like Ola, Uber and Rapido will compete in the online taxi market. The move aims to provide an alternative transport service, where drivers will be able to earn directly without sharing profits with big companies.
Union Home Minister and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah said in Parliament that Sahakar Taxi will register two-wheeler taxis, auto-rickshaws and four-wheeler taxis across the country. Shah said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Prosperity through Cooperation’ is not just a slogan, the Ministry of Cooperation has worked day and night in the last three and a half years to make it a reality. The Union Minister further said that Sahakar Taxi service will be started in the coming months.
Drivers will benefit
Unlike private companies, this service will ensure that all the earnings remain with the drivers, which will give them more financial benefits. The Union Cooperation Minister said, “This service will benefit not any big industrialist, but the vehicle drivers.”
Cooperative Insurance Company to be formed
Shah said that apart from this, a cooperative insurance company will also be formed which will provide insurance services to the people in the country. He further said that in a short time it will become the largest private insurance company.
