Old Pension Scheme: The Union Ministry of Personnel has considered the IAS and central employees who got jobs on the basis of advertisement for recruitment till 22 December 2003 entitled to old pension.
For this, the facility of option has been given till 31 August. On the basis of the letter sent by Sanjeev Narayan, Additional Secretary, Union Ministry of Personnel, the Personnel Department of UP has started the effort. The New Pension Scheme (NPS) system was implemented in the country from January 2004, ending the old pension system.
In this, 10 percent is deducted from the salary of the employee. The new pension does not have the facility of GPF, whereas it was there in the old pension. In the old pension, there was a system of giving pension according to the salary after retirement. In New, there is a system of payment according to the money in the market.
At present, the demand for old pension is gaining momentum in the country. In such a situation, this letter from the Union Ministry of Personnel is going to give relief. According to the Personnel Ministry letter, personnel of the Central Armed Forces will not come under its purview. The Personnel Department of UP is sending a copy of the letter sent by the Union Ministry of Personnel to all the departments related to it, so that the option can be taken from those who come under its purview by August 31, 2023.
In the letter of the Union Ministry of Personnel, it has been said that on the basis of the advertisement for recruitment till December 22, 2003, continuous representations are being received for giving old pension to those appointed after January 2004. Along with this, various courts and Central Administrative Tribunal have also been giving orders from time to time regarding old pension to such officers and personnel. That is why it has been considered to give the benefit of old pension to such officers and personnel by taking an option.
The option will be taken to the officers and personnel coming under its ambit who are eligible to exercise the option, but who do not exercise this option by the due date, they will not get the benefit of old pension. Officers and employees opting out who fulfill the conditions of coverage under the old Pension Scheme Rules, 1972 (now 2021), NPS accounts will be closed by issuing orders by 31 October 2023 and normal future for them Fund (GPF) subscription will be made mandatory. The adjustment amount of employees’ contribution to their accounts will be credited to the GPF account.
