Central employees and pensioners are eagerly waiting for the implementation of the Eighth Pay Commission. According to reports, the government may constitute the Eighth Pay Commission in the month of April 2025, that is, it may be constituted this month itself.

Also, the recommendations of the Pay Commission may be implemented next year i.e. 2026 or 27. However, if it is implemented, the monthly salary of central employees and pension of pensioners may increase by about fourteen thousand to nineteen thousand rupees.

Currently, the average monthly salary of central government employees is around Rs 1 lakh and after the implementation of the new pay commission, it will increase by around 14 to 19 percent. That is, after this, if the government keeps a budget of Rs 1.75 lakh crore, then the salary of these central employees will increase by around Rs 14,600.

Whereas, if the government keeps a budget of Rs 2 lakh crore, their salary can increase by about Rs 16,600. It is worth noting that the direct benefit of the Eighth Pay Commission will be received by more than 50 lakh current central employees and more than 65 lakh pensioners. Last time, i.e. in the Seventh Pay Commission, Rs 1.02 lakh crore was spent by the government.

However, the fitment factor is an important formula for increasing the money by the Pay Commission. At the time of the Seventh Pay Commission, this fitment was 2.57 and with it the minimum salary was increased from seven thousand to eighteen thousand. But if the same formula is applied this time too, then the minimum salary of central employees will increase by Rs 9,000 to Rs 46,260 and pension will increase from Rs 9,000 to Rs 23,130. In such a situation, how much the salary of central employees will increase, it will depend on the recommendations of the Eighth Pay Commission and the government’s budget.
