CBDT launches utility on E- filing portal to seek inputs on simplification of the Income Tax Rules and Forms.

New Income Tax Rules: The process of making new income tax laws has started in the country. The Income Tax Bill 2025 has been introduced in the Parliament, which is being considered by the Select Committee of Parliament.

And being a taxpayer, you can also contribute in making new income tax laws. The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) has sought suggestions from stakeholders regarding income tax rules and related forms. After compiling it, it will be sent to the Select Committee for consideration.

The Central Board of Direct Tax has launched a utility in the e-filing portal to seek suggestions from stakeholders, in which stakeholders can submit their suggestions regarding the new Income Tax Bill under the OTP based validation process. Stakeholders can click on this link given below.

All stakeholders can access this link from 8 March 2025. Stakeholders can give their suggestions regarding the new Income Tax Bill through OTP validation after writing their name and mobile number.

CBDT said in a statement, efforts are underway to collect suggestions and work on simplification of related income tax rules and various forms in line with the comprehensive review of the Income Tax Act, 1961. The aim of this initiative is to increase clarity, reduce compliance burden and eliminate obsolete rules to make the tax process more accessible for taxpayers and other stakeholders. Apart from this, the aim of streamlining the rules and forms is to simplify tax compliance, improve taxpayer understanding and simplify the process of filing documents, reduce administrative burden and errors and increase transparency and efficiency.

As part of a wide-ranging consultation process, the Committee constituted to review the rules and forms invited suggestions from stakeholders in four categories, including simplification of language and reduction of litigation and compliance burden.
