Now the benefit of 75 percent reservation will be available in Bihar. Nitish Kumar’s government of Bihar has published a gazette regarding this. That means, from now on, Scheduled Caste/Tribe, EBC and OBC will get the benefit of 75 percent reservation in educational institutions and jobs.
It has been implemented from Tuesday (21 November). Bihar government has increased the reservation limit by 15 percent. According to the bill, only SCs and STs will get special facilities in the matter of promotion. This facility of reservation will be available in direct recruitment. These bills were unanimously approved in the Bihar Assembly on November 9 and in the Legislative Council on November 10.
The Assembly Secretariat had sent them to the Governor on 12 November. A total of six bills went to the Governor on the same day. Of these, four returned on 14 November. According to the gazette notification of the state government, the Governor signed the reservation bills on November 18.
Its copy was received by the state government on Tuesday. Chief Minister had requested Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, during his address at the Industry Department function held on November 16, had requested the Governor to put his signature on the reservation bill. He had said that the Governor will sign it today and the new reservation system will be implemented from tomorrow.
The Governor signed these bills two days after his request. Limit increased as per caste-based enumeration: The state government has implemented a new reservation policy based on the latest data of castes found in the caste-based enumeration. In the calculation, the economic condition of every citizen and family of the society has been assessed.
According to the census report, there are 94 lakh poor families in the state whose monthly income is up to six thousand rupees. The Chief Minister decided to provide Rs 2 lakh per family for the economic progress of such families.
The state cabinet approved it. Now the Industries Department is preparing guidelines. Rs 2.5 lakh crore will be spent on this scheme in five years. Similarly, under the Sustainable Livelihood Scheme, approval has been received from the state cabinet to give Rs 2 lakh instead of Rs 1 to poor families.
This amount is for employment generation. – 15 percent increase in total reservation. There is a provision for 75 percent reservation in the new system. That means there has been an increase of 15 percent in the already issued reservation. Of these, 13 percent were included in the backward class and two percent in the Scheduled Caste-Tribe quota.
Who will get how much reservation now in Bihar?
After the implementation of the bill, SC will get 20 percent and ST will get 2 percent in Bihar. Extremely backward classes will get the benefit of 25 percent reservation and backward classes will get 18 percent reservation.
Along with this, the provision of 10 percent reservation for the economically weaker sections of the general category will remain in force. Previous Dalits and Mahadalits will get the benefit of this reservation in educational institutions and government jobs. Students of this category will benefit from this in government colleges and universities.
