The central government has extended the deadline to link Voter ID and Aadhaar card. This will provide great convenience to the card holders.
In the notification issued by the government, it has been said that now this facility will remain till next year and if any card holder fails to link Voter ID and Aadhaar, no action will be taken against him. This work is completely voluntary, which will also be beneficial in many ways.
The government has issued a notification saying that till now the last date for linking Voter ID and Aadhaar was April 1, 2023, which has now been extended to March 31, 2024. That is, the card holders have been given an additional time of 1 full year to complete this work. The government has also said that the work of linking Aadhaar and Voter ID is completely voluntary and has not been made mandatory.
If any person fails to complete this work, then no action will be taken against him. However, the Election Commission has also told many advantages of linking both the cards. The Commission says that this can prevent the identification of the correct voter and two registrations with the same name in the same Lok Sabha constituency.
Work will be done by calling and SMS.
Linking of Voter ID and Aadhaar card can be done through both online and offline mode. If you want, you can complete the linking work by sending a message from mobile or even by calling. To link through SMS, SMS your Aadhaar and Voter ID numbers to 166 or 51969. For this, a message has to be sent in the format of ECILINK<SPACE><EPIC No.><SPACE><Aadhaar No.>. If you want, you can call 1950 number from 10 am to 5 pm and link it by telling your voter ID and Aadhaar number.
How to link offline
To link Aadhaar and Voter ID through offline mode, you will have to apply to your Booth Level Officer (BLO). BLO will verify it and then both your documents link will start appearing in the record. You can get information about BLO by entering your EPIC on NVSP website.
Follow this step to link online
– First of all go to the official website nvsp.in.
After login, find the Search in Electoral Roll option on the home page.
Enter personal details and Aadhaar number.
OTP will come on the registered mobile number.
Your Aadhaar card and Voter ID card will be linked as soon as you enter the OTP.
