Old Pension Scheme Latest Update: The Finance Department of Himachal Pradesh has issued an office memorandum regarding the restoration of the Old Pension Scheme (OPS).
After this, all those government employees of the state, who are part of the new pension scheme, will get the benefit of the old pension scheme (OPS). However, it will take some more time for the notification to be issued by the government. About 1.36 lakh employees of the state will get the benefit of this decision taken by the government. In such a situation, everyone’s eyes are fixed on the formula of the old pension scheme.
Preparation to give Rs 1,500 a month to women
In the office memorandum issued by Chief Secretary Prabodh Saxena, it was said that the employees included in the new pension scheme in the state will be given the benefit of the old pension scheme. It said that the state’s finance department will issue terms and conditions and SOP at the appropriate time. As per the election promise, the Congress government in the first cabinet meeting approved the restoration of the Old Pension Scheme (OPS). In addition, cabinet sub-committees were also formed to prepare a roadmap for giving Rs 1,500 per month to women in the age group of 18 to 60 years and create one lakh job opportunities.
Employees depositing the previous amount themselves
Let us tell you that from January 1, 2004, employees joining government jobs come under the New Pension Scheme (NPS). In Himachal Pradesh, preparations are underway on the lines of Chhattisgarh to give old pension to the employees. Employees in Chhattisgarh are withdrawing NPS money from the center and depositing the previous amount themselves.
The Government of Chhattisgarh has given the option to the state employees to come in OPS or stay in NPS. In such a situation, it is expected that Himachal government can also adopt this formula.
About Rs 800 crore will be spent this year on the implementation of the old pension scheme in Himachal Pradesh. Its expenditure is expected to increase further in the coming days. Let us tell you that the old pension scheme (OPS) has been restored in Himachal Pradesh after about 20 years.
