People will not have to visit police stations. To speed up the process of giving PCC, the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of West Bengal Police launched a new portal on Friday. Through this portal, citizens can apply online for PCC and get rid of long paperwork.

Police started online portal

There is a news of relief for the common people. Now people will not have to wait long for Police Clearance Certificate (PCC) for passport, visa and job. People will not have to visit police stations. To speed up the process of giving PCC, the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of West Bengal Police launched a new portal on Friday. Through this portal, citizens can apply online for PCC and get rid of long paperwork. This digital initiative will reduce the time taken in the process of giving PCC considerably.

The portal was launched in the presence of officials

The portal was launched in the presence of senior CID officials at the state police headquarters Bhavani Bhavan. ADG and IG CID Dr R Rajasekharan, IG CID Vishal Garg, ADG and IG (South Bengal) Supratim Sarkar, IG Traffic Sukesh Jain, IG CID Akhilesh Chaturvedi and ADG and IG (Headquarters) Ajay Kumar were present during this time.

IG (Traffic) Sukesh Jain said that till now the process of giving PCC used to take about 30 days. With the launch of this portal, this work will now be done within 72 hours and that too without any hassle. For this, people will have to fill the online application form as well as upload a photo and necessary supporting documents. Also, a fee of Rs 300 will have to be paid through netbanking, debit or credit card.

Application and fee must be submitted

He said that once the application and fee is submitted, all the information will be sent digitally to the concerned police station. After this, the officials will do physical verification at the applicant’s address and do extensive record checking. A digitally signed PCC will be emailed to the applicant once the verification process is complete. An SMS notification confirming the issuance or rejection of the certificate will also be sent.

A Police Clearance Certificate (PCC) is an official document issued by the police certifying that a person has no criminal record or has not been involved in any criminal activity resulting in a criminal conviction. This certificate is often required for various purposes such as immigration, employment, or residence in a foreign country.
