Big news for SBI customers: State Bank of India new guideline for locker holder sign new contract before deadline

SBI : India’s largest public sector bank State Bank of India (SBI) has changed its rules for customers having bank lockers. To comply with the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) order, SBI has advised all locker holders to sign the new locker agreement by visiting their respective SBI bank branch.

SBI instructed customers to visit the branch

SBI tweeted on the official Twitter account saying that the bank has issued a Revised Bank Locker Contract incorporating the rights of the customer. To avail the locker service from SBI, customers have been requested to visit their locker holding branch to find out and sign a new contract.

All banks have to complete this work by December 31

RBI has ordered all banks to ensure that at least 50 percent of locker holders sign the new agreement by June 30. Banks across the country must have 75 per cent of their customers sign the agreement by September 30 and reach 100 per cent. This work has to be completed by December 31 this year. All banks have been directed to provide necessary information to their customers as well as update the status of their locker agreements on the efficient portal of RBI.

SBI customers should note that locker charges will vary depending on the size and location of the locker. Small and medium sized lockers will attract a charge of Rs 500 including GST. For larger lockers, a registration charge of Rs 1,000 plus GST will be applicable.

Depending on the city and the size of the locker, this much is the rent of the locker.

SBI customers in urban or metro cities will have to pay Rs 2,000 plus GST for the small locker.

In small towns or rural areas, the charge for a small locker will be Rs 1,500 plus GST.

In urban or metro cities, a medium-sized locker will cost Rs 4,000 plus GST.

The charges for a medium-sized locker in small towns or rural areas will be Rs 3,000 including GST.

Customers opting for larger size lockers in major metro cities will have to pay Rs 8,000 plus GST.

In small towns and rural areas, the fee for a larger size locker will be Rs 6,000 plus GST.

SBI will charge Rs 12,000 plus GST for the largest locker in major cities or metro areas.

In small towns and rural areas, the charge for the largest locker will be Rs 9,000 plus GST.
