Beer Price Hike: There is a bad news for beer lovers today. If you also drink beer, then now you will have to pay 15 percent more for every bottle or can of beer. Yes, the price of beer has been increased by 15 percent directly.
The increased prices of beer have also been implemented from today. Not only this, the government has said in an order that from today, the sale of beer bottles and cans with old MRP will also be done according to the new rate. However, this latest increase in beer prices is not for everyone.
This state government took the decision to increase the prices
Beer prices have been increased only in Telangana. This means that to buy beer in Telangana, you will have to pay 15 percent more. Let us tell you that United Breweries had stopped the supply of its beer to Telangana Beverage Corporation Limited (TGBCL) last month. The company had given two reasons behind stopping the supply. The first reason was that TGBCL had not revised the basic price of the company’s beer since the financial year 2019-20. The second reason was that the company had not paid the outstanding amount for the previous supply of beer by TGBCL. Due to both these reasons, the company had to stop the supply of its beer in Telangana because the company was suffering losses due to the attitude of the government.
The company sells 6 crore boxes in a year
Let us tell you that United Breweries makes famous brands of beer like Kingfisher. Not only this, it is the largest beer company in India, which has 70 percent share of the entire market. This company sells 6 crore boxes of 12 bottles in a year across the country. In Telangana, the state government itself buys liquor from the companies and supplies it to all the shops. According to the Brewers Association of India, the price of beer in Telangana is around Rs 300 per box, while in Maharashtra it is around Rs 500. Due to state taxes and retailers’ margins, the consumer price is 5-6 times higher in most states.
