Eid-i-Milad-ul-Nabi Bank Holiday: The festival of Milad un Nabi will be celebrated across the country on 16 September 2024. There is a holiday in many states on this occasion.

At the same time, due to Ganesh Visarjan in Maharashtra, the holiday of Eid e Milad has been changed from 16 September to 18 September. Due to Anant Chaturdashi on 17 September, the procession of Eid e Milad will be taken out on 18 September. After the order of the Maharashtra government, RBI has changed the holiday. At the same time, according to the RBI website, banks will remain closed for four days i.e. from 14 September to 18 September. However, it will vary according to the states.

Foreign exchange, currency market and derivatives market will remain closed on 18 September 2024

According to the RBI press release, due to the declaration of public holiday by the Maharashtra government on September 18, 2024, there will be no transactions and settlements in government securities, foreign exchange, money market and rupee interest rate derivatives. All outstanding transactions will be settled on September 19, 2024. However, the government securities market, foreign exchange market, money market and rupee interest rate derivatives market will now be operational on September 16, 2024.

Banks will be closed in Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Belapur, Hyderabad

According to the list of holidays released by RBI, banks will remain closed in Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Belapur, Hyderabad (Andhra Pradesh), Hyderabad (Telangana), Imphal, Kanpur, Kochi, Lucknow, Nagpur, New Delhi, Raipur, Ranchi, Srinagar and Thiruvananthapuram, Aizawl, Chennai, Dehradun and Jammu on September 16 due to Eid-e-Milad or Barawafat. At the same time, banks will remain closed in Chennai on the occasion of Milad-un Nabi on September 17. Apart from this, banks will remain closed in Gangtok on September 17 and September 18 on the occasion of Indrajatra and Pang-Lhabsol.

Banks will be closed in these states on 20 September and 21 September

Banks will remain closed on September 14 as it is the second Saturday. Apart from this, September 15 is Sunday. There will be a holiday in Jammu on Friday after Eid-e-Milad on September 20, 2024. Banks will be closed in Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram on the occasion of Sri Narayan Guru Samadhi Day on September 21. There will be a bank holiday in Jammu and Srinagar on September 23 on the occasion of Maharaja Hari Singh’s birthday. There will be a holiday in Srinagar on September 25 due to assembly elections.
