Bank strike today: The All India Bank Employees Association (AIBA) has called for a nationwide strike today, Wednesday, August 28, which may affect banking services across the country.
“The proposed strike is to show our protest against the action of the Bank of India to file a chargesheet against all 13 office bearers of the Bank of India Staff Union-Kerala under political pressure,” AIBEA General Secretary C. H. Venkatachalam told a news agency.
Venkatachalam also said that four of the chargesheeted employees are ex-servicemen, three of whom were Kargil war veterans. On the reason for the mass chargesheeting of union officials, he said, “The Bank of India Staff Union-Kerala is affiliated to the AIBEA.

Tribute was paid to Pervez Musharraf
The bank union had distributed a draft report of its activities to its members for comments and suggestions. The draft report of the central general secretary included the names of 140 international and national personalities who had passed away during the last two years for tribute reference. This is a part of the report in all union conferences. Included in the list was the name of former Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf, who died in 2023, as he was the former head of the country.
