Bank Strike Update: A big relief news is coming for crores of common people of the country. Bank employee organizations have decided to postpone the two-day nationwide strike next week.
The organizations have postponed the strike after getting positive assurance on their demands from the Finance Ministry and IBA (Indian Banks’ Association) on Friday. Let us tell you that, as per the pre-decided schedule, the organizations had announced a two-day nationwide strike on Monday and Tuesday in banks across the country. United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU), an organization of 9 bank employee unions, had called for a strike on March 24 and 25.
What are the demands of bank employee organizations
The main demands of the bank employee unions include two days off every week and adequate recruitment in all employee cadres. The decision to postpone the proposed strike has been taken in front of the Chief Labor Commissioner, who called all the parties for a conciliation meeting. Representatives of the Indian Banks Association and the Finance Ministry assured to consider the demands of the employee organizations. UFBU also demanded immediate withdrawal of the recent instructions of the Department of Financial Services (DFS) on performance review and linked incentives (PLI) of employees. The employee organization says that this instruction threatens the job security of the employees and creates division among the employees.
Banking operations come to a standstill for 4 consecutive days
With this latest decision of the bank employee unions, crores of common customers of the country will heave a sigh of relief. If the employee unions had maintained their decision of strike, the work of banks would have been halted for 4 consecutive days. Actually, 22 March is the fourth Saturday of the month and 23 March will be a holiday for all the banks of the country due to Sunday. After which the strike program was scheduled for Monday, 24 March and Tuesday, 25 March. In such a situation, the work of common people would have been stuck for 4 days, due to which they would have faced many problems.
