All banks are going to remain closed in Uttarakhand on Tuesday 12 November. Igas-Bagwal festival will be celebrated in Uttarakhand on 12 November. Igas, also known as Bagwal, is a traditional festival of Uttarakhand. Igas Bagwal is celebrated 11 days after Diwali. This festival is celebrated with great pomp especially in the Garhwal region and many folk traditions are associated with it. It is believed that the news of Lord Rama’s return to Ayodhya was received a little late in the mountains, so the local people celebrate it as Deep Parv a few days after Diwali. On this day, lamps are lit in homes and temples, devotional songs are sung, and Bhailo is played, which is a traditional game celebrated by lighting wooden torches.
What happens on the day of Igas-Baghwal
On the day of Igas-Bagwal, special dishes are prepared in rural areas, such as Urad Pakodi, Bhaat Pakoda and many types of sweets. On this day, group dance, song-music and folk drama are also organized, in which local people participate dressed in traditional costumes. Understanding the importance of this festival, the Uttarakhand government has declared it a public holiday in the state, so that people can go to their villages and families to celebrate their cultural heritage. Banks will remain open here
Apart from Uttarakhand, banks will remain open in other states of the country. However, despite the banks being closed, people will be able to do financial transactions through internet banking, mobile banking and ATMs.

- November 10 (Sunday): Banks will remain closed across the country
- November 12 (Tuesday) : Banks will remain closed in Uttarakhand due to Igas-Baghwal.
- November 15 (Friday): Guru Nanak Jayanti/Kartik Purnima – Banks closed in Mizoram, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha and other states.
- November 17 (Sunday): Holiday.
- November 18 (Monday): Banks closed in Karnataka for Kanakadasa Jayanti.
- November 23 (Saturday) : Fourth Saturday and Senkut Snei Festival in Meghalaya.
- November 24 (Sunday): Banks closed across the country.
