Banks will remain closed in Meghalaya on 18 December on the death anniversary of U Soso Tham. Born in 1873 in Sohra or Cherrapunji, Meghalaya, U Soso Tham was a poet. Banks will remain closed in Goa on 19 December. According to the RBI list, banks will remain closed in the capital Panaji. This is due to Goa Liberation Day. Goa, Daman and Diu Liberation Day is celebrated every year on 19 December in Goa. According to Wikipedia, Goa Liberation Day is celebrated to commemorate the capture of Portuguese-ruled Goa by the Indian Armed Forces in 1961, after which India became free from any European rule. Usually, the list of bank holidays across the country is issued by the RBI.

Apart from the above holidays, banks are also closed on the second and fourth Saturdays of every month. The fifth Saturday of a month with five Saturdays is a working day for the bank. Earlier, banks used to open only for half a day on Saturdays.
