Will the banks be closed or open today on 1 June 2024? Today is the first Saturday of June. As per RBI guidelines, banks in India are closed on Sundays, second and fourth Saturdays of the month. Whereas banks work normally on the first, third and fifth Saturdays. In such a situation, there will be work in banks on the first Saturday today, but Lok Sabha elections are going to be held in many states of the country today. In such a situation, banks will be closed only in those states where elections will be held. Rest, banks will remain open in all the states.
Elections are being held in 8 states today
Banks will remain closed in many states of the country on Saturday as the last phase of elections is to be held. People of eight states and union territories are voting for 57 Lok Sabha seats. Banks will remain closed only in those cities where elections are going on in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Odisha, West Bengal, Jharkhand and Chandigarh. Many people keep their bank work to be done on Saturday as it is difficult for them to go out during office hours between Monday to Friday. Elections are going to be held in these states
The last phase of voting is to be held for a total of 13 seats each in Uttar Pradesh and Punjab, nine seats in West Bengal, eight seats in Bihar, six seats in Odisha, four seats in Himachal Pradesh, three seats in Jharkhand and one seat in the Union Territory of Chandigarh.

Banks will remain closed on the occasion of YMA. Raja Sankranti in Mizoram and Odisha on June 15.
16 June 2024 (Sunday) – Weekend holiday
On Sunday, June 16, banks across the country will remain closed on their weekly holiday.
17 June 2024 (Monday) – Eid-ul-Azha
Banks will remain closed across the country except Mizoram, Sikkim and Itanagar on the occasion of Eid-ul-Adha on June 17.
June 18, 2024 (Tuesday) – Eid-ul-Azha
Banks will remain closed in Jammu and Kashmir on June 18 on account of Eid-ul-Azha.

All banks in the country will remain closed on June 22, the fourth Saturday of the month.
