Banks in the country will have many holidays this year. Bank holidays also depend on the state in which its branch is located. Some holidays are only state wise while some are of national level.

Officially only 26 January, 15 August and 2 October are considered as National Holidays. Banks remain closed all over the country on this day. Apart from this, banks remain closed in most parts of the country on Holi, Diwali, Raksha Bandhan etc. Apart from this, Good Friday, Nanak Jayanti, Eid and Christmas are bank holidays in most of the states and union territories.

Banks are closed on the second and fourth Saturday of every month in India. Also, every Sunday is also a bank holiday. If there are 5 Saturdays in a week, then banks will open on the fifth Saturday. If seen, banks across the country will remain closed for only 6 days next month. 5 of these holidays are on Saturday and Sunday, while one is on National Holiday. All other holidays are state level. That is, they will not have any effect on banks across the country.
