However, now GSec, Forex, Money, Rs interest derivative markets will not only open today on 28th but will also remain open on 29th. In view of quarterly and half yearly closing, it has been decided to keep GSec, Forex, Money, Rupee interest derivative markets open.

Where will banks remain closed?

Bank holiday has been declared on 28th in many states, which include Ahmedabad, Aizawl, Belapur, Bengaluru, Chennai, Dehradun, Hyderabad, Imphal, Kanpur, Lucknow, Mumbai, Nagpur, New Delhi, Raipur, Ranchi. But now there will be a holiday in Maharashtra on 29th September. Apart from this, banks will also remain closed in Gangtok, Jammu and Srinagar tomorrow.

Later announcement of Maharashtra Government’s decision

In fact, the Maharashtra government had decided to advance the holiday of Eid Milad-un-Nabi by one day to Friday (29 September). Earlier, the official state holiday of Anant Chaturdashi falling on the occasion of immersion ceremony and Eid Milad-un-Nabi is falling on the same day on 28th September.

Since huge processions are taken out for both the festivals, it could have caused problems and it would have been difficult for the police to manage the huge crowd, hence a holiday had to be declared.

There are 31 days in the entire month and 16 banks will remain closed. The second and fourth Saturdays are also included in these 16 days. Also Sundays are also holidays. Apart from this, there will be bank holidays in different states on different occasions.
