Bank Holiday on Wednesday: Banks are going to remain closed today on Wednesday 17th July. Banks will remain closed in most of the states of the country on Wednesday. On Wednesday 17th July 2024, there is Muharram, Ashura, U Tirot Singh Day across the country due to which there will be no work in the bank. Today there is a bandh in all the states like West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, New Delhi, Bihar, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Meghalaya, Rajasthan, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Mizoram, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Tripura.

Banks are closed on 17th July

Muharram : It is the first month of the Islamic year i.e. Hijri year. Allah’s messenger Hazrat Muhammad has called this month the month of Allah. Ashura is called the tenth date of Muharram, the first month of the Islamic calendar.

Tirot Singh Day – Tirot Singh Day is celebrated in honor of Tirot Singh, a Meghalaya freedom fighter who led the struggle against the British in the 1800s. This day is a local public holiday in the Indian state of Meghalaya.
