Bank Holidays 2025: If you have any important work related to the bank, then finish it without delay. There are going to be many holidays in banks between 12th and 26th January. This includes second and fourth Saturdays as well as every Sunday holiday.
Apart from this, banks will also remain closed due to regional festivals in various states. In such a situation, checkbook, passbook, or other banking work may be affected. However, digital banking services like UPI, mobile and internet banking will continue as before.
National and Regional Holidays
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) releases a list of holidays every month. It includes national and regional holidays. All banks across the country remain closed on national holidays, while regional holidays apply only to the respective states or regions.

- January 12 (Sunday):Â Weekly holiday and Swami Vivekananda Jayanti.
- January 13:Â Lohri (Banks closed in Punjab and other states).
- January 14:Â Makar Sankranti and Pongal (in many states including Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat).
- January 15:Â Thiruvalluvar Day (Tamil Nadu) and Tusu Puja (West Bengal, Assam).
- January 16:Â Ujjavar Tirunal.
- January 19 (Sunday):Â Weekly holiday.
- January 22:Â Imoin.
- 23 January:Â Birth anniversary of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose.
- January 25:Â Fourth Saturday.
- 26 January:Â Republic Day (Holiday throughout the country).
- January 30:Â Sonam Losar (Sikkim).
What types of services will be available during bank holidays?
You will not have any problem using some services during bank holidays, as online services will continue as normal. You can avail the following services:
Net Banking:Â You can use net banking through the bank’s website or mobile app. Facilities like money transfer, bill payment, balance check are available in it.
Unified Payments Interface (UPI):Â You can transfer money instantly through UPI. This facility is very safe and easy with apps like Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytm.
Mobile Banking : Through the bank’s mobile app on the smartphone, you can avail services like fund transfer, mobile recharge, utility bill payment.
ATM Services:Â You can withdraw money at ATM, check balance, get mini statement. Also, facilities like cardless cash withdrawal are also available in ATM.
Get information from local bank branches
To avoid any inconvenience, customers are advised to check the holidays from their local bank branch in advance as the list of holidays may vary for different states in India.
If you have any bank related work, then finish it early to avoid any hassle during the holidays. Online services will remain active even if the bank is closed, so you can do your work easily.
