ICICI Bank Data Breach: Data of 35 lakh users of ICICI Bank has been leaked. This includes users’ credit card details, bank account information and other personal information.
It has been told in the report of CyberNews that the details of the system of ICICI Bank were being managed in a wrong way. Users’ data was stored in the cloud and anyone could see it. However, when CERT-IN got its information, the agency issued an alert. After this the bank rectified the error and the data was deleted.
Which details of the customers were leaked?
The research team of Cyber News found that some such data of ICICI Bank was present in the cloud storage, which could be used by anyone. In this, all the sensitive information like user’s name, date of birth, home address, email ID, bank account details, credit card number, passport, PAN, bank statement and KYC details were present. Not only this, in this leaked data, resumes of some existing employees and candidates applying for the job were also uploaded.
ICICI Bank deleted data
According to ICICI Bank, the leaked data has now been removed. However, if this data is in the hands of a scammer, then its effect can be dangerous. Obviously, due to all such information, the customers of the bank may have to suffer huge losses.
It is a simple matter that banks and other financial firms are the most targeted by hackers. In such a situation, the leakage of data of ICICI Bank on such a large scale is a big negligence. This poses a threat to both the bank and its customers.
